Mike Whitman

Mike Whitman is a Grammy Award winning musician with over 30 years of experience in the entertainment business.  He graduated from Cal State University of Long Beach in 1980 with a B.A. in Music.  Mike is one of the best woodwind players in Southern California and over the years has gathered many notable credits such as the one’s listed below.   

Notable Credits

  • Grammy winner for performance on Poncho Sanchez’ “Latin Soul” CD (Best Latin Jazz Category) 1999.
  • Performed at the 68th, 69th  and 70th Academy Awards. 
  • Performed at the 1999 Grammy Awards and the 1998 Golden Globe Awards.
  • Has played lead alto saxophone for the Jack Sheldon Orchestra since 1993.
  • Performed for Queen Elizabeth during her tour of Southern California in 1982.
  • Was a member of Stan Kenton’s last orchestra in 1979. 
  • Performed as featured soloist with Sarah Vaughan, The Pacific Symphony, Tony Bennett, Natalie Cole, Nancy Wilson, Lou Rawls, The Temptations, The Four Tops and The Spinners.
